Iranian film Burning Nests directed by Shahram Maslakhi is programmed to take part in the Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF) in Tanzania.
Burning Nests chronicles the story of a boy whose mother died at Halabja genocide and his back after leaving there for a long time to find his real family.
The movie has been screened in some international cinematic events such as the fifth Jaipur International Film Festival in India.
Maslakhi’s 74-minute movie was produced in two languages of Persian and Kurdish.
Born in 1986 in Tehran, Maslakhi received BA in Filmmaking.Burning Nests is his first feature film after making several TV documentaries.
Zanzibar International Film Festival which is also known as “Festival of the Dhow Countries” is recognized as the largest cultural event in East Africa.
Established in 1997, the festival is a non-governmental organization to develop and promote film and other cultural industries as catalyst for the regional social and economic growth.
The 16th Zanzibar International Film Festival is planned to be held from June 29 to July 7, 2013.
